Theater Tuesday: Out of Harms Way

Posted By: Unknown - 6:00 AM
Can theater help bring an end to youth violence? That was the question posed by Times Herald in an article posted on Sunday. Organizations and parents in Norristown believe so, TNP being one of those voices. Theatre Horizon will host the 2nd annual 'Out of harms Way' Public Forum aimed at helping parents, youth and civic leaders to engage one another directly about ways our community can combat these problems together.

Research is beginning to prove the impact of including arts in a community that witnesses violence among the youth. The first step to reducing violence and reaching out to our youth is to begin talking. Theatre Horizon's 'Out of Harm's Way' is where the talking begins.

The forum will take place on Thursday, March 13th at 7:00pm. Admission is free, however, you must RSVP by calling 610-283-2230. The forum is only thirty minutes so please make sure you attend on time and/or take time out of your day to attend. Last year's event yielded 70 residents of the community and leaders.

Theatre Horizon is located in the Arts District at 401 DeKalb Street. Street parking is available near the theater. In addition, there is a small parking lot as well as free parking in the county parking lot. Or if you're coming from out of town, Norristown has a transportation center two blocks away!

(Next Week's post will be about Centre Theater's new production, Buried Child.)
