Flash Forward Friday: Events Happening March 23-29

Spring is finally here! Yesterday, TNP announced our trashcan art project happening in the community. We are looking for businesses, organizations and residents to adopt a trashcan that we have to decorate for the community. Sunday, March 23rd

  • Buried Child - 2:00pm @ Centre Theater - On a road trip to his Grandfather's farm in Illinois, Vince hopes to renew his lost family ties. Tuesday, March 25th 

  • Free AARP Tax-aid Preparation - 10:00am @ Norristown Public Library - AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is available free to taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and older. Through a cadre of trained volunteers, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has helped low- to moderate-income individuals for more than 40 years in every state and the District of Columbia.   • Zoning Hearing Board Meeting - 7:00pm @ Municipal Hall - March 2014 monthly board meeting to discuss proposals for Norristown development. Questions, contact Jayne Musonye. 

Wednesday, March 26th 

  • NBA Business Mixer -  5:00pm @ Almaz Cafe - regular business mixer sponsored by Norristown Business Association. For more information, email info@norristownba.org
  • Meet the Chief: Town Hall Meeting - 6:30pm @ American Lefion Post #39 - Come out and meet the new chief of police mark Talbot as he introduces himself and outlines the department's policing strategies. Additional parking is available at the old Washington School parking lot in the 600 block of Violet Street.

Thursday, March 27th 

  • Toddler Tickle Tales - 10:30am @ Norristown Public Library - Stories, songs, fingerplays and simple games for the active toddler and early preschool child, followed by playgroup time with toys. Ages 2-4 with a caregiver.
  • Strengthening Families Program - 6:00pm at Stewart Middle School - This is a free 7-week program that meets one night a week. Family dinner and childcare for younger siblings is provided, free of charge. Each week during the first hour, parents and youth meet separately but work on similar skills. During the second hour, the parents and youth have fun together as they play games and do family projects. 

Friday, March 28th 

  • Friday After Work Happy Hour - 4:30pm @ Jus' Java - Come out for Happy Hour stating at 4:30. Live music, discounted food and drink specials. Fun for all.

Saturday, March 29th

  • Walking Taste Tour - 11:30am @ Caffe Galileo - The taste tour will begin at 11:00am at Caffe Galileo with the sampling of La Colombe roasted coffee prepared four different ways while nibbling on a small sample of pastries. The second stop on the tour will be Casa Bonita where the group will taste four of their popular dishes. The third stop will be Almaz Cafe to taste three of their well-known cuisines. The final destination will conclude with lunch at Banh Mi Bar & Bistro. For more details contact info@norristownba.org
  • Norristown Birthday Celebration - 1:00pm @ Selma Mansion - You're invited to Selma Mansion to celebrate the anniversary of Norristown's incorporation. Learn about our history, join a spirited game of Norristown Jeopardy to test your knowledge, then eat cake. For tickets, contact Norristown Preservation Society.
