Live Jazz Happening in Norristown

Posted By: Unknown - 3:00 AM

Happy Music Monday! Or should I say music week? If you're following the arts in Norristown, you would say so! I will spare you the history of Norristown Arts Hill being formed and how the town has benefited from its formation. Instead, I wanted to talk about the live entertainment happening each week around town. Today, I would like to talk about Live Jazz at August Moon on select weekends each month.

CryinSam Entertainment hosts Second Saturdays and Fourth Fridays at August Moon for those who love live Jazz and Spoken Words. Each event, they feature a different set of performers and spoken word artists for the community to enjoy.

Music is all around us and is a big part of Norristown's heritage, especially Jazz! James "Jimmy" Smith is the most notable Jazz artist from our town that landed on the Billboard Charts several times throughout his career. According to historians and older generation residents, Jazz filled Main Street and there was always a show going on. CryinSam is bringing back that tradition!

The next event is their Second Saturday Live Jazz and Spoken Words on April 12th at August Moon. This week will feature the George Weldon on Quartet, Bob Alexander on Organ, Nick Costa on Drums,  Anthony DeCarlo on Guitar, and George Weldon on Vibraphone.

The feature spoken word artist will be Marquis Wright-Lee. You can view more of his work by heading to his website www.thinkstrivethrive.com

The MC for the night will be Rich Rogers "Cryinsam" of Cryinsam Entertainment.

Doors Open at 7:30 pm and the cost is $10 with a 2 Drink Minimum.  August Moon will also feature dinner specials throughout the night so enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine while the show is going on.

So this Saturday, I encourage you all to attend the monthly Second Saturday in Norristown!
